25. Apple Tarts

This recipe can be as simple or as elaborate as you like it. There are no real quantities specified because this is a recipe that you almost literally throw together.
You may keep it simple using only apples and sugar on the puff pastry.
You may add whatever spices you fancy (cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves go especially well).
You may add any nut you like (almonds or hazelnuts are particularly recommended).
Also you may experiment with the kind of apple: if you like sweet, use red; if you like a tang of sour, use Granny Smith apples. In either case, a drizzle of lemon juice is recommended to avoid discoloration.

Ingredients:

puff pastry, cut into desired shape and size
apples, peeled, quartered, sliced
lemon juice
sugar (brown or white or a mixture)
cinnamon powder
butter

Method:

Preheat oven to 400°F.
Arrange puff pastry into baking sheet.
Sprinkle generously with sugar.
Arrange apple slices on top.
Sprinkle with cinnamon and again with sugar.
Top with a very thin slice of butter.
Bake for 40 minutes.
Wait to slightly cool before consuming.
Vanilla ice-cream is a perfect marriage with this apple tart.
